About Kayak Jack

Kayak Jack aims to raise $50,000 for the St Giles Society. St Giles is a leading disability service provider, that relies largely on donations, to continue making a positive difference in the lives of Tasmanian children.

Chris Duffy will kayak from Launceston to Hobart over 13 days in December 2009. His severely disabled son, Jack, will accompany him in the kayak for 1 hour per day.

Kayak Jack is about a Launceston family giving something back to the organisation and community that has done so much for them. Kayak Jack is not about raising money for Jack Duffy – due to his profound disabilities Jack will always receive professional care.

Kayak Jack is about raising funds for St Giles so that the myriad of peripheral services they provide can continue. It is for any parent, family or friend that has ever worried about the health and wellbeing of a child. If your child was born with problems, or had an accident that left them with disabilities, would you know who is there to help? For the Duffy family, and thousands like them, the answer to this question is St Giles.
